    • J.T. Lindsey, 87, died Wednesday, February 23, 2000 at the Red Bay Hospital after several months of declining health. He was born January 2, 1913 to Jim and Linnie Lindsey and was a native of Mississippi. He was retired from TVA as a Public Safety Service Officer of 27 years and as a school teacher in Dennis for nine years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He was a member of Dennis United Methodist Church. He was devoted to his church and family which included several nieces and nephews.

      He was preceded in death by three sisters, Villa Sartin, Lalla Byram, and Elsie Paden.

      Services were 11 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2000, at the Dennis United Methodist Church. Officiating was Rev. Steve DeVore. Burial was in Lindsey Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont was in charge of arrangements.

      Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth Davis Lindsey, of Dennis, MS; two sisters, Lora Graves, Tupelo, MS and Ruth Nichols, Tishomingo, MS; one brother, Herman Lindsey, Iuka, MS; nieces and nephews.

      Pallbearers were Vernon Crum, Wayne Sartain, Galen Nichols, Jim Byram, Harmon Davis and Jimmy Tidwell.
