KIRKLAND (2.Archibald2, 1.John1) b. 1816, Sequantchie Valley, Marion County, TN,32 m. 12-Sep-1833, in Sipsey, Fayette County, AL, William Owens MOORE , b. 11-May-1816, TN,32 (son of William MOORE and Elizabeth PATTERSON) Church: Methodist, Occupation Preacher, Teacher, Farmer, d. 1890 abt, Buried: Paradise, Wise County, TX. Mary died after 1878 but before 1880, Wise County, TX, Buried: Garvin, Wise County, TX. Mary Ann and Wm. Owens lived east of Sipsey and about 2 mi. from Fayette until about 1860 when they bought land in the western part of Fayette County, AL. In 1878/79 they moved to Wise County, TX. They reared the 8 orphan children of Carson Hunter Moore, a brother of Wm. who was killed in Sept., 1863, near South Mt., MD, prior to the battle of Antietam.

      William: At the age of 47 Wm. O. Moore enlisted with County B, 7th Regt., AL Cavalry on June 20, 1863, Greene County, AL. He was paroled May 17, 1865, at the office of Provost Marshall, Hd. Quarters 16th Army Corps. County I--same regt. Wm. Owens Moore reared 21 children including 7 orphan children of his brother Carson Moore, his 11 children plus 3(?) others. Two of Carson's children--a niece Hunter Moore and a nephew-William Moore moved with Wm. Owen Moore's wagon train to TX in 1878.

      NOTE: If this is correct about Carson's children, then where is Hunter Moore (f) in John Palmer's list of children? Check Texas censuses for William Owens Moore in 1880.
