Obituary from The Daily Corinthian of Alcorn CO. MS:

      December 30, 1902

The remains of Word Lindsey, who died in a St. Louis hospital, were received here yesterday and interred in Henry cemetery. He was about 21 and had both legs cut off by an Iron Mountain train in Arkansas several months ago. He was carried to St. Louis and placed in the railroad hospital, and died from the injuries received.

Letter from John Micajah Lindsey to Benjamin S Lindsey, dated 24 July 1910:
"we had three boys ... the second Homer Word, was run over by a train in west Arkansas and hd both legs cut off seven years ago last November and died in the hospital in St. Louis 40 days after the misfortune. Your aunt and I were with him from the time we could get there until he died and brought him home to bury."
